You Are Here------Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan.
'Linger'~~~~ is the word for it. Although I took a long time to read this book..it is not solely my problem. Did not find any two chapters interesting consecutively.
Arshi the central character of the story is very much an independant girl who is living between her divorced parents and best friend Topsy. Arshi portrays a very cool and care free attitude like how a girl from a Metro is percieved to be. But she has her own rules...One...incident from the book did please my reading buds---> Where she tries to shun away from her friend Esha who dopes for the 1st time and makes out with a boy friend of hers. The so called BOY FRIEND does not even have the capacity to keep his friendship..He turns a back to Esha when she collapses after doping..and then admitted to the hospital. But as usual...Esha longs for that boy to come pay her sympathy visits. Unlike the still dumb Esha..Arshi resents the fact that Esha is looking out for such a person who is not even fit to be a Friend--let boy friend kept aside.
Caution: For the people who would pick this book for reading because of its Name and the book cover...I say..the Uniquness ends there. Poeple who thought that Chetan Bhagat's books were boring....It would be nearly be like '4 mistakes---of my life & More '!

Actually i think that Chetan Bhagat's books are not boring....either you love them.....or despise them......honestly speaking there was a time when i liked his book (5.s'1).....but now he's in the same league with SRK, Rakhi Sawant, Harbhajan Singh and the list goes on......
ReplyDeleteI agree to what u say Manish. His book (5.s'1) is still a good one for me...that time was college time and we could relate to it easily. May be 'U are here'would be a fun book for youth who are approaching their college life.
