Why Sonakshi Sinha ???

Amongst the many promising  Hindi cinema actresses is a name 'Sonakshi Sinha'.  After 'Juhi Chawala' I have now started to like an actress for her aura, poise, psychitude & her dance as well.  When I go back down my memory lane, 'Madhuri Dixit' along with Prabhudeva created stirs in the industry with ‘Que Sara Sara’…from the film Pukar.  Roughly 13 years later Sonakshi Sinha comes to match the competition and shakes her legs with ‘The Prabhudeva’….and that too ati ati ati magnificently!!!

I watch the song 'Go Go Go Govinda' from the film ‘Oh My God’ everyday as if I am watching the song for the very first time. It has mesmerized me to good extent. Initially I played the video for my daughter just because I thought the video is appealing, vibrant and it has finicky soul to it.  Later I simply got attached to the song to such a level that I listen & watch the song at least 2-3 times a day.

Another reason for me to like Sonakshi Sinha is that I can relate to her. I mean I am not looking at lady who is perhaps younger to me (yes she 1987 born), who has a useless accent, who doesn’t even try to speak Hindi and above all is a little healthy. I don’t need to be jealous of her size 0 figure. I see her onscreen and say … I can be like her:  healthy at the same time gorgeous and endearing.  In her debut film 'Dabang' she had the potency to stand in from Salman Bhai and still get acknowledged for her charisma in front of Salman’s amplifying stardom!  Kuch to baat hai is Bihar Ki Beti mein!!!
The ShotGun daughter has really shot the gun of her magic at her fans.

Nirbhaya : Our tipping point

In the recent times two extreme brutalities have clogged up our minds & newspapers. Both are equally disgusting as well as disrespectful to human race.  I am talking about the Delhi gang rape case & the beheading of our Indian soldiers. We blame our neighboring country of being brutal, inhuman and merciless in their approach towards relations over line of control. How inhuman can we call ourselves when a minor and his friends, rape a girl and then torment her to near death.  Blood and antagonism can still be expected on a battleground, but cruelty & violence in an organized environment cannot be expected.  The news bounces that enemy soldiers who carried out the beheading were rewarded prize money for their act of enmity. To me similarly, the accused who is a minor is rewarded his freedom buy terming him as a ‘juvenile’ who cannot be punished for his aggressiveness which might include raping a girl, attempting to kill her & inserting a rod in her vagina. Ouch!!!….while typing this…my heart beat shoots up…I feel goose bumps and can only imagine the atrocity Nirbhaya might have gone through that cold winter night in Delhi. Still according to our judiciary system that poor chap is a minor and should not be punished!!!

What has happened of Nirbhaya and her life is very sad.  There are people of different stature and authority who gave their opinions about this sad incident and the ways Nirbhaya could have escaped that night. Amongst many is a statement of a heightened spiritual guru who quotes "Only five-six people are not the culprits. The girl is as guilty as her rapists... She should have called the culprits brothers and begged before them to stop... This could have saved her dignity and life. Can one hand clap? I don't think so”. Apart from this he even mentioned that she should have recited the ‘Gayatri Mantra’ to avert the barbaric encounter that night.  In what frame of mind is this man in? Let us call upon the Guru in a gathering of angry women and the family members of Nirbhaya’s family who are irritated & frustrated with what life has offered them and bereaved them off,  take a finger long metal nail and plant it in his nose until he starts bleeding. Ask him to call us his brother, sister, master….anything that he could think of us and even let him recite the hanuman chalisa, the gayatri mantra and any sankat mochan shlokas. Do you think the aggravated mob would stop ???....If it was for me…..I would not STOP! Gang rape accused are mentally ill. This kind of petty or moralistic coaxing hardly affects their sadistic behavior. Sorry Nirbhaya…I regret having Dharam gurus like him who can quote anything for mere publicity. Please be in peace wherever you are now for you are no more in this untamed harsh world.

I have lived in the NCR for 4 years with  my husband. In the initial 6 months I understood that it’s not safe for women to be out late. It is not the question of why not the women can be out???...When I know that in jungle the beasts and uncertainty both are out to its peak, why not take precaution and stay safe. After all it is our own security. I would like my womenfolk to carry small daggers, black pepper sprays and a lot of vigilance. Other sad thing associated with rape is morality. If a girl is raped and still survives…why does she become a model of unmoral values? Why is she disassociated from a community, why is she given a second glance, why is seen as white pigeon amongst the other black pigeons. We as a society should help her find peace and live like a normal human being. She was a victim who now has all the rights to live freely and with her head held high. When by mistake a cloth falls down in a dirty puddle, we wash it, soak it and dry it in the air and continue wearing it as it is clean. Likewise should a rape victim be treated. While citing my views on issues like this…I would even like to say for me the men who have certain desires and fulfill their thirst for sex by visiting sex workers by paying them are much better off than men who just quench their thirst of unfulfilled desires by raping innocent girls and ruining their lives. “Seedhi baat no bakwaas!!!”

These days there is a very common trend of showing that we are a part of your grief for that reason we go light a candle, wear white clothes and become a part of an Andolan. I want to ask those people who have lit candles and walked the many andolans against injustice ….especially with passing away of Nirbhaya just before the New Year…how many of you did not celebrate New Year’s night. How many of you did not party, did not drink and did not wear fancy clothes. Honest confession, I also cooked good food, had a nice time with my family & friends. My point is that…by walking in andolans or by lighting candles…does not serve any intention. We have to bring the change. We have to practice protection for ourselves. We should try hard enough to be a good citizen. We have to be the one by our ways & methods, who can actually have the other women folk literally keep the name ‘Nirbhaya’….the fearless.

Let us be the change we want to see.

We are sorry Nirbhaya that we lost you. Rest in peace. You are now safe.
